Media Haul

.

The most interesting part of the average Christmas is What Media You Got. It let's you know a) what people think of you and b) whether or not they've ever heard of Amazon Wishlists. So, to be interesting, here's the media we Thteeds received, starting with the flicks-----

Media Haul

DVD

CD

Raising Sand by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
Every bit as good as what you've heard. But what's surprising is that the bluegrass queen and the progenitor of metal have made the mellowest album I've heard in quite a while. But it's lovely.

They Got Lost by They Might Be Giants
There's no such thing as too much They Might Be Giants. Repeat after me: There's no such thing as too much They Might Be Giants.

Looking out the Fishbowl by Eddie from Ohio
I only ever used Illegal Napster one day, enough to fill two cds. With the purchase, we are almost completely legitimate now. Because of Napster, it's worth noting, I freaking love EFO.

    Keeping the Faith (soundtrack)
Lady Steed and I heard this in a store in Morro Bay on our honeymoon and have remembered it as the greatest soundtrack of all time. Now, it's pretty good but, well, we were on our honeymoon. Still, I'm very glad to have it.

  1. Yikes. That is a lot of media. I didn't get a single item, which is totally weird.

    Enjoy reading/watching/listening!

  2. Wait, what?

That's the strangest thing that's ever happened to me--on the internet, at least. I clicked a link that clearly said "0 comments," but by the time the site loaded (not much time with my high-speed connection), Miss Hass had posted the first.

    Cuh-razy.

Anyway, for Christmas, the only media I got falls under the category of 책: a dictionary of phrase and fable. It's pretty cool and just goes to show that my parents were listening when I said, "Some people collect stamps or shot glasses; I collect dictionaries and appliances" (NOTE: I also got a very nice Foreman grill from--euh--Bojangles, I believe is the appropriate pseudonym for this blog.)

  3. PS Is there any particular reason you chose "책" over "books"?

Not that I don't occasionally use my rudimentary French on my blog....

  4. .

Mostly because the other two were ALL CAPS so Books seemed out-of-place.

  5. Excellent haul. You've made me curious - what did Jesus say in Testaments which isn't in the scriptures? (I only saw it once, and I've pretty much forgotten everything about it, except that it seemed expensively produced)

  6. I covet much of your media haul. I admit it. Not all of it, but quite a lot.

At least I got my very-pleasant-surprise copy of Meet the Robinsons . . . (they always leave me to buy my own written media; the joys of gift cards)

  7. Great collection from Christmas. I love the comments about the kids' books. You've picked out some great ones.

And I have to admit I share your jealousy for the built in rattles.

  8. Trigun is not my choice of someone's second anime after Cowboy Bebop, don't get me wrong, it's a decent anime, but probably in bottom five of top ten. The second half of Trigun is better then the first half.

    What would YOU recommend?

  10. We got Bill & Ted's also. I'm excited to watch it (but have to wade through the neighbor's DVD I borrowed and our current Netflix choice).

  12. The only media item I got was the soundtrack to the movie The Mission. At least they used my wishlist, but I realized after listening to it that I wanted it a lot more ten years ago. Oh well.
