The amazing thing about pumpernickel--as a sandwich bread I mean--is haw it acts as a catalyst in the most amazing reactions! For instance, the old classic: put two parts ham to one part turkey on pumpernickel and the sandwich will begin to wobble and smoke, and before you know it, voila! You have a bobcat sandwich!

i share your affinity for pumpernickel. now you have me thinking of the jewish delis back east which are terribly lacking out here. yum. another amazing pumpernickel-catalyzed reaction is the reuben. it is less stinky if you leave out the sauerkraut.
ReplyDeleteI tried pumpernickel today for the first time. It was very interesting and I think if I were to eat it enough I'd acquire a love for it.
