Arthur Rackham

How many corbies was that again?.

So how come I have never heard of Arthur Rackham before? Because this is my new favorite portrait of my favorite birds--whether twa or any other number of them. And I was just nosing around the Internet and I found all sorts of other terrific Rackham illustrations. Have you seen him do Alice in Wonderland? Great stuff. What an artist! What a fantastic body of work!

But, on the other hand, he is dead....

  3. Love the illustrations. Also, gotta say that the site being in French made me feel so much more cultured today.

Thanks for the heads up on the illustrator

  4. Thanks for linking back to fromoldbooks for the twa corbies.

He might be dead but you know, all the best guys are dead, and they stole all our good ideas :-)

  6. Well they don't make 'em like they used to. Rackham (1867-1939) is one of the greatest illustrators to come out of the UK, if not THE greatest illustrator.

This illustration is from "Some British Ballads" published in 1919.
