Bells: or, what I'm listening to these days

For perhaps a month now, the vast majority of the music I have been listening to when I am on my laptop is Thayer Sarrano’s new album Bells.

I love it.

She lets you buy her entire collection in one go—currently it’s $26.60, a terrific price. (So ignore me when I tell you I bought her first seven for a mere $3.50 back in 2022. I don’t know what she was thinking.)

Although nothing about her new album is out of place with her prior work (which, though a coherent oeuvre, does many different things), this is the first longer work of hers I’ve gotten addicted to. Perhaps because it slots in nicely with much of my favorite sounds from my late teens and early twenties. It gives, in other words, a ‘90s vibe. Like early Heather Nova or Mazzy Star or (and I know this isn’t ‘90s) Jenny Lewis.

Anyway. I don’t have much interesting to say about this album other than I love it and I want to share it with you. I hope you’ll like it as well.

Incidentally, the last album I suddenly got this into has an entirely different manner of walking through this world:
