I have books enough of my own to read! And yet, when I stop by to drop off the last bunch you dealt me, what do you do but deal me a bunch more! How will I ever read the books in my own library when you keep tempting me with your NEW! shelves! I don't have time to read every book in the world, and the books I paid for should obviously be my priority, yet again and again you ply me with your wares and render helpless and overrun with tomes! Why? Why! What have I ever done to deserve you? I love you so much!
Seriously. I had several books on order and they all came at once. Some I had been waiting weeks for [you are 67 out of 83 request]. And, of course, because other people want to read them, there are no renewals.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for my hour each way commute on public transportation. Although, Rough Stone Rolling is going to have to go back later this week, and I've only managed ~200 pages.
.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very long book--a book I'll never read unless I own it.
I love public transportation. Walking to work is almost as good except sometimes you have to make sure no cars are coming.
Me and my Library are like this (imagine I've just crossed my fingers)
ReplyDeleteI don't buy books because it feels like cheating
Thank you for using the library, that's what it's there for.
ReplyDeleteNow stop buying books.
This reminds me: I have three I need to go pick up. And alas, that doesn't stop me from buying them. I justify that there will be some point in my life when I will not be conveniently situated near a library and I will need things to read, so obviously I have to keep buying new books as well. Right?
ReplyDeleteAnd if you think you don't deserve your library . . . I'm still trying to figure out what I did to deserve being in such close to the beautiful and ginormous Salt Lake City Public Library.
.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I love that library. We talked of moving to Salt Lake just to be near that library.
(Although I'm confused why is isn't the library that's "cheating".)
Your post reminds of Rory in an episode of "The Gilmore Girls."
ReplyDelete...reminds me...
